We believe having children should make the world more interesting, not smaller.
Far & Family is a guide to extraordinary travel with children: the places worth going, the hotels worth staying in and the experiences worth getting on a plane for.
We created it for parents who loved travelling before they had children — and have no intention of stopping now.
That might mean watching elephants cross the plains in Africa, learning to ski in the Alps, exploring temples in Japan, sleeping beneath the stars, island-hopping through Greece or simply finding a brilliant hotel where everyone in the family gets to have a proper holiday.
We like beautiful hotels. We like great food and thoughtful service. We also like dusty roads, tiny boats, night trains, wildlife, mountains, markets and the occasional journey that doesn’t go entirely to plan.
For us, luxury and adventure aren’t opposites.

Wherever possible, the places we recommend have been experienced firsthand — either by our own family or by one of our contributors.
Our contributors are families who travel: people who have actually slept in the hotel, driven the road, taken the boat, missed the connection,
found the brilliant restaurant and worked out which bits were worth the effort.
We also publish carefully researched guides to destinations we are planning to visit. When we haven’t been somewhere ourselves, we’ll tell you.
Because there is already enough travel content on the internet pretending to know things it doesn’t.
Why Far & Family?
Children don’t stay children for very long.
There are only so many summers, Easter holidays and half terms when everyone is under the same roof and available to disappear somewhere together.
We don’t think that means every holiday has to be enormous or expensive.
But we do think the good ones matter.
Travel introduces children to wildlife, languages, food, history, landscapes and people they would never encounter at home. It asks them to be curious, adaptable and brave. And occasionally it simply gives the whole family a week in which nobody has to empty the dishwasher.
Our ambition is simple:
to help families spend less time researching their travels and
more time having adventures worth remembering.
